A fundraiser to create a memorial for Pershing teacher and coach Alan Newton, who died last week, will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McAlister’s Deli, 210 W. Sunshine St.
The deli will donate 20 percent of the proceeds and 100 percent of the tips during that time period. Students will use the money to build a display case in memory of Newton.
I would encourage those involved with Pershing Soccer to support this fundraiser. Coach Newton was supportive of the soccer program and our players.
