Pershing Varsity Loses to Cherokee

Pershing Varsity boys soccer team (3-3) lost to an undefeated (for two seasons) Cherokee team 2-5. The final score was not a good indicator of how well the boys played. Deep into the second half the Pershing boys were only down 2-3 and kept the pressure on Cherokee’s side before gaving way to the relentless pressure from Cherokee. Great saves by Nicholas Lantz (#00) kept Cherokee from widening the score. Jack Johnson (#24) started the scoring off a header from a corner kick perfectly placed by Josh Nance (#16). Josh Nance scored the second goal on his own by avoiding a defender and making a passing shot with his right. The night provided for an exciting evening and the boys gained considerable experience from a great champion.

Reminder: No practice this week. Varsity plays again on Monday at 6 p.m. against Ozark prior to the semi-final game on Wednesday (10/20). Pershing’s likely opponent for the semi-final game is Catholic.
