2011-2012 All-City Champions – Pershing Generals!

Pershing Generals: 2011 Middle School Champions

Pershing All-City…Champions!!

Pershing Generals defeated the Cherokee Indians 3-1 (2OT) to win the All-City Varsity Soccer Championship. The Generals finished the season with a 7-2 record. The Pershing boys had not been to the Championship game and won since the 2005-2006 season. Exciting game! Great season! You did it!

The game’s first goal was an unassisted shot from Bobby Spence (#26). Cherokee countered with its one and only goal from a free kick outside the Pershing 20. The score remained tied through regulation and the first OT. Then in the 2OT, Nathan Lantz (#99) broke free from several defenders to put the Generals up for good. Spence was credited with the assist. Then with two minutes left in the game, Samuel Holmes (#22) put the game out of reach with an unassisted goal just inside the upper 90.

Congratulations! You will always be the 2011-2012 All-City Champions!!
