PRACTICE REMINDER-GAMES THIS WEEK

Remember – we will attend the Glendale girls soccer games Thursday night as our practice. We will meet in the parking lot at Cooper Stadium field at 5:30 (regular practice time). Plan to be picked up at 7:30. If you need a ride please contact me or Coach Bruce. If have another pre-scheduled activity (another practice etc), please let one of us know.

GAMES THIS WEEK:

Varsity had an off night and struggled from the beginning. There were a few bright moments when the girls moved the ball nicely down field and made a beautiful cross to score the first goal. However, the night belonged to Ozark who fought hard, played together as a team and never let down to acheive their first win of their season. I look for a better game on Monday against Cherokee.

Both JV teams also continue to struggle. Mary P had her first goal of the season – congrats! Keep your heads up girls. As long as you are learning, we will consider this a successful season.

Go Lady Generals!

PRACTICE CHANGES

Please note – from now until the end of the season – JV teams will now have practice twice a week. JV will practice on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:15 – 7:00 both nights. Both practices are mandatory unless you have a pre-scheduled conflict! Choosing not to show “just because..” WILL result in less play time during the games. SWING PLAYERS – may miss Monday practices due to games!

If you have a valid reason to miss practice, you must let Coach Bruce know in advance. Phone #417-761-9092.

VARSITY (and SWING) - This week only (tonight 4/19), I can not be at practice and plan to have an extra practice on Sunday 4/22. Practice will be from 6-7:30 at Pershing. PLEASE MAKE THIS PRACTICE!! We need to review a few things before our re-match with Nixa on Monday night.

GAMES THIS WEEK

Varsity came off with a victory this week against Ozark. The girls played together as a team and used the skills that I know they have to pass the ball and move it down field. All were taking shots from the top of the box with more accuracy. Final score 4-0. Good job girls! Let’s get pumped for the re-match with Nixa on Monday and show them how you all REALLY play.

The JV teams played hard, but both came away with losses. Although we saw some good ball movement and teamwork, there were several things that we have worked on in practice that players seemed to have  forgotten. Both teams are better than the final scores showed, so plan to be at practice on Thursday and plan to work hard!

JV PRACTICE ADDED – GAMES NEXT WEEK

The JV teams will have an additional practice on Monday the 16th at 5:15 to 7:00 pm at Pershing. Swing players are to skip practice and go to the Varsity game.

Bruce is planning to go to the Varsity game after practice and has room for a few players to ride with him. If you are interested in going to the Varsity game after practice, please contact Bruce and let him know.

Varsity game vs Catholic Monday April 16th at 7:30 on Field 13.

JV Black vs Carver Tuesday April 17th at 6:00 on Field 10.

JV Red vs Catholic Tuesday April 17th at 7:30 on Field 13.

Please arrive at the fields 30 minutes prior to game time.

VARSITY LOSE TO CHEROKEE – JV TEAMS PLAY EACH OTHER

The Varisty Lady Generals came out strong against our rival Cherokee. Ball handling was good and we had the ball at their end of the field. Unfortunately, Cherokee was able to score first, second and third. After that, you could see the players had their heads down. We started the second half optomistic, but could not finish. Although we did finally score a goal, it was not enough and Cherokee came out on top.

The JV Red and JV Black teams were scheduled to play each other. These games are always fun. The girls fight hard against each other and get physical on the field. (something we would like to see in ALL games). Both teams worked hard, but the end result was Pershing Red coming out with the win.

Practice Thursday at Pershing from 5:30 to 7:00.

GAMES THIS WEEK

Varsity vs Cherokee – Monday April 9th at 7:30 Field 14

JV Black vs JV Red  – Tuesday April 10th at 7:30 Field 13

VARSITY CLAIMS VICTORY//JV TEAMS FIGHT HARD

The Varsity Lady Generals claimed victory over Ozark Monday night. Players worked together as a team, used the field and set up several shots resulting in a 6-3 win. Goals were scored by Kristin Knetzer (4), Alyse Weaver (1) and Mary Hannah Miller (1).

The JV Black Lady Generals fell to Willard 1-5. Kat Jackson had her first goal of the season! Congrats Kat. The team showed good ball movement and set up several opportunities but came up empty.

The JV Red Lady Generals fell to Nixa 0-5 in a game that was called at half due to lightning. Although the players did have some offensive runs, the Nixa defense was a tough line to penetrate. With a second half of play lost, the result may have been different with more time to play.

Practice Thursday night at Pershing from 5:30-7:00. All players need to try and attend.
