April 19th, 2012 — Girls Soccer
Varsity came off with a victory this week against Ozark. The girls played together as a team and used the skills that I know they have to pass the ball and move it down field. All were taking shots from the top of the box with more accuracy. Final score 4-0. Good job girls! Let’s get pumped for the re-match with Nixa on Monday and show them how you all REALLY play.
The JV teams played hard, but both came away with losses. Although we saw some good ball movement and teamwork, there were several things that we have worked on in practice that players seemed to have forgotten. Both teams are better than the final scores showed, so plan to be at practice on Thursday and plan to work hard!

The Varisty Lady Generals came out strong against our rival Cherokee. Ball handling was good and we had the ball at their end of the field. Unfortunately, Cherokee was able to score first, second and third. After that, you could see the players had their heads down. We started the second half optomistic, but could not finish. Although we did finally score a goal, it was not enough and Cherokee came out on top.
The JV Red and JV Black teams were scheduled to play each other. These games are always fun. The girls fight hard against each other and get physical on the field. (something we would like to see in ALL games). Both teams worked hard, but the end result was Pershing Red coming out with the win.
Practice Thursday at Pershing from 5:30 to 7:00.

April 4th, 2012 — Girls Soccer
The Varsity Lady Generals claimed victory over Ozark Monday night. Players worked together as a team, used the field and set up several shots resulting in a 6-3 win. Goals were scored by Kristin Knetzer (4), Alyse Weaver (1) and Mary Hannah Miller (1).
The JV Black Lady Generals fell to Willard 1-5. Kat Jackson had her first goal of the season! Congrats Kat. The team showed good ball movement and set up several opportunities but came up empty.
The JV Red Lady Generals fell to Nixa 0-5 in a game that was called at half due to lightning. Although the players did have some offensive runs, the Nixa defense was a tough line to penetrate. With a second half of play lost, the result may have been different with more time to play.
Practice Thursday night at Pershing from 5:30-7:00. All players need to try and attend.
Go Lady Generals!

Both JV teams played with a lot of determination. JV Red had it’s first goal of the season by Carson Buzbee! Great job Carson. For the first games of the season we were pleased with most of what we saw. We do have things to work on so please be at practice Thursday night from 5:15-6:45.
We will have copies of the game schedules for everyone. If you want to print your own, they are on the Lake Country Soccer website. Leagues/MiddleSchoolSoccer/girls.

In the first game of the season, the Nixa Varsity were obviously out for revenge. They came out strong and never let down. We had some unlucky moments when several close shots bounced off the posts. The first game of the season is a good learning tool. We will discuss the game and work on some things in practice Thursday. Please plan to practice on Thursday at Pershing from 5:15 to 6:45. We are a better team than we showed tonight. Get ready for our game next week!
